Gerry Daniel > The photo I posted for yesterday was seriously a tough choice. It was posted this morning rather than last night because I was unsure about it. My choices are influenced by my mood, my difficulty in having an objective perspective on my photographs, and some feeling that I fell short of capturing what I was trying to photograph. I would imagine that most of you have similar reservations from time to time.

Todays photo goes back to my interest in the changing leaves, the textures, the tones, and the layers. There was something about this group of leaves that caught my attention. The floor of the woods is covered with leaves. As I walk along, looking for something to shoot, different things will attract my eye. It doesn't always result in something worth shooting. Other than just liking something visually, I am not always able to express why I take some shots. Why these leaves and not another group? Just personal preference I guess.

Today's song is by Fink (UK) - the title is "If Only" from the "Distance and Time" album.
Gerry Daniel > Last night, I failed to identify what I had photographed. It was a large steel plate, with large bolts that were part of the bridge support for an Interstate bridge that was above a parking lot. Not exactly an exotic subject but I liked the shapes.

Tonight's photo is something a little different for me. I had two photos that I liked then it occurred to me that these two particular photographs might work as a composite image. I am mixed on whether to post the two individual images in the bonus tracks layer. While they are both good photographs, this image might be stronger if I don't muddy the waters.

Tonight's song is by A Fine Frenzy, the title is "Borrowed Time" from the "Live Session (iTunes Exclusive) - EP" album.
Gerry Daniel > Here's the ugly truth, the seamy underbelly, the dark secret. Autumn is upon us and the changing colors of the leaves are one of my favorite parts of this time of year. No, that's not the ugly truth, I will get to that in a minute. Relax, let me weave the tale. My captions have been weak almost non-existent lately. I heard that. One of you muttered, "Don't kid yourself Gerry, they are always weak." Everybody's a critic. Anyway before we get any deeper into this season, here's the thing. Remember how I was addicted to the water lilies? This is much bigger than that. It's the leaves. The colors, the textures, the patterns, the brittle dryness - I love it all. And it's not just the pretty ones, the perfect ones, the ones without blemishes. Much like people, the ones with blemishes, the imperfect ones are often far more interesting. So, fair warning, I can't help myself. Expect more leaf photos, it's a harmless addiction.

Tonight's song is by City and Colour, the title is "The Girl" from the "Bring Me Your Love" album.
